CALL FOR ENTRIES / DEADLINE 10th JAN 2008

The culture of dance video / dance film is still an emerging genre in most of East Asia. The International Dance Film Festival has been the first in Japan to promote this art form between and with dance and moving images. The festival will present a selection of contributions that are generated from an international call for participation. For the first time, the festival will also screen a selection of the POOL 07, Berlin's leading dance film festival which is organized by Dock 11 Berlin (curator: Hiroko Tanahashi).

Dance and Media Japan is the leading platform to promote the relationship between dance and media arts. DMJ organizes workshops,
lectures, symposiums to foster interdisciplinary works. DMJ increasingly offers educational / training projects all over the world
- most recently in Ireland, Germany and France.
Festival director as well as director of Dance and Media Japan is Naoto IINA. He has invited as fellow jurors the interdisciplinary performing arts unit "post theater [new york / berlin / tokyo]" (Hiroko Tanahashi and Max Schumacher").
There will be an interdisciplinary program accompanying the dance film screenings. The program will be posted in January.

There is no entry fee. Every application / entry requires two parts:
1) an online application (via e-mail providing the information requested underneath in the ENTRY FORM)
2) the actual dance film via snail mail (physical mail). The format can be DVD or miniDV tape. All TV norms are accepted (PAL and NTSC), but NTSC would be prefered.

The deadline for 1) is January 10th, 2008. The deadline for 2) is January 10th - postmarked by that day latest. Arrival time in Japan should be no later than January 17th, 2008. Preferably your work arrives already by January 10th in Japan.
