(see full programme below)
Saturday 2nd December the venue for the morning is Limerick
School of Art and Design Church Gallery in Clare Street Campus
and a film presentation Endurance Reels originally presented
at Exit Art in New York City will be screened from 11am, tea
and coffee will be served. Endurance: The Video Programme
is an international survey of contemporary video and performance
artists whose individual and collective works test the physical,
mental and spiritual endurance of the body. Works included
will be screened by Carolee Schneemann, Paul McCarthy, Gordon
Matta-Clark and Orlan (Courtesy of the Video Data Bank). Following
the screenings at 1.30pm Paula Fitzsimons presents target_Painting,
a visceral comment on the progression of a modernist idea
of the artist/painter as individual genius, through a dematerialised
postmodernism.
This year the festival has four aspects to it, Student Excursions,
National Excursions, Film Excursions and International Excursions.
The international programme will include the Performance Artsists
Nicola Davide Angerame who will present a series of Italian
performance videos by Maura Biava, Motus, Francesco Arena
and Corpicrudi and Eleonora Chiesa. This will be followed
by a performance by Japanese artist Tatsuya Kusuhara Me, Myself
and I.
Bernadette Cronin, Regina Crowley and Mick OfShea present
Cabinets of Curiosities, a trans-disciplinary performance
based on a model of a conversation. This project is predicted
on the notion of a journey the three artists have been undertaking
together, and this performance marks phase 2 of the collaboration.
The cabinet is different every time it is opened, as it is
a live cabinet with an improvised sound score and a partly
improvised visual score. Cabinets of Curiosities is a performance
project emerging from a collaboration between sound artist
Mick OfShea and performers Regina Crowley and Bernadette Cronin
and will be performed at Impact Theatre on Sunday 3rd December
at 4pm.
Excursions is an annual performance festival. This year it
was curated by Sheila Deegan, Pippa Little and Davide Terlingo.
It is supported by The Arts Council, Limerick City Council,
